A.P.D. Detectives Unit
The Detectives Unit consists of a Lieutenant Supervisor and 4 full time Detectives. This allows for a Detective to be on duty from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week to provide the utmost in service tothe community. All Detectives have, and continue to receive, extensive specialized investigative training in a wide array of specialty areas.
Detectives are assigned to investigate crimes and provide victim services. They are responsible for conducting follow up investigations and providing victims with service and support, normally after an initial report is taken by a member of the Patrol Division. Detectives are also available to respond 24 hours a day to assist crime victims or to respond to the scene of a serious crime.
Detectives David Pare and Sean Leary provide the majority of investigative follow up on crimes such as larceny, vandalism, assault, threats, burglary, robbery, narcotics, identity fraud, internet crime, scams, and suspicious or unattended death. Once assigned to follow up on a case, these Detectives are responsible for establishing that a crime was indeed committed, identifying and apprehending suspects, and recovering property or potential evidence.
Detective Robert Wile serves a dual role by conducting follow up investigations and also providing extensive outreach and services to victims. Detective Wile focuses his efforts towards cases involving domestic violence, sexual assault, child and elder abuse, and mental health issues. Detective Wile is also responsible for the registration and monitoring of all registered sex offenders living and working in the community.
