Emergency Alert System  


The Town of Amesbury has instituted the CodeRed Emergency Notification System -- an ultra-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the city in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action.

The message will be crafted to be informative, short and direct as possible in order to convey the necessary information to ensure the public’s safety. The message will include date and time of incident as known, specific instructions as applicable, and instructions or contact information for questions. The telephone number that will appear on your caller ID will be 866-419-5000. If you receive this number please make sure you answer the telephone because it may be an emergency.

The system is capable of dialing 60,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.

THIS SYSTEM WILL ONLY BE USED FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES.

Dangerous Water Conditions  Floods
Fires  Dam Breaks
Terrorism Bomb Threats  Nuclear Hazards
HAZMAT Emergencies Amber Alerts
Evacuation Notices Chemical Spills and Gas Leaks
