A Public Information Meeting will be held by the City to discuss the proposed Transportation Improvement Project along Elm Street in Amesbury, MA.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Elm Street Reconstruction project.
PROPOSAL: The proposed project consists of vehicular safety and capacity improvements as well as improved pedestrian and bicycle accommodations/accessibility along Elm Street. The project entails the installation of fully actuated traffic control systems at the Congress Street and Monroe Street intersections. The improvements also include pavement reconstruction, rehabilitation of the existing drainage system, the addition of new/rehabilitated sidewalks/curbing along both sides of the roadway, ADA compliant wheelchair ramps and improved intersection geometry. Bicycle accommodations consisting of a 5’ bicycle lane have been provided in accordance with applicable design guides.
A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The City of Amesbury and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands.
