The City of Amesbury has hired a new Chief Financial Officer, Marisa Batista. Batista starts after Angel Wills left the City of Amesbury to work at the City of Haverhill mid-January. Wills has continued working for Amesbury part-time to ensure continuity of service during the transition.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Marisa Batista to our team as our new Chief Financial Officer," said Mayor Gove. "She brings almost two decades of government finance experience to Amesbury and I look forward to working with her closely on the financial direction for the City of Amesbury. Thank you to Angel Wills for everything she has done for this community, and continued to do part-time to help us with continuity of service while we completed our CFO search. She created a solid financial foundation for us to move forward with, and I’m grateful for her efforts here.”

Batista comes from the Town of Hamilton, where she was employed as their Finance Director / Town Accountant since 2016. She brings almost 20 years of experience in governmental accounting, working for municipalities as well as private entities doing audits for government agencies. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Salem State University in 2002 and a Master of Business Administration from Plymouth State University in 2016.

“During my time as the Finance Director/Town Accountant, I worked hard to lower expenses, increase efficiency, and map out a long-term vision for the Town of Hamilton," said Marisa.
