Al Capp Amphitheater

Al Capp Amphitheater

Decades ago, cartoonist and radio personality Al Capp drew his colorful Li'l Abner cartoon strip characters from a studio space overlooking Amesbury's Market Square. Thanks to a handful of talented locals, a new mural in the archway honoring Capp's life and his most memorable characters are depicted, laid out in comic strip style, with Capp's life retold via text bubbles.

The Al Capp Amphitheater is the site of concerts, fitness classes and events. The Amphitheater features picnic tables, a sun shade over the Amphitheater seating, a solar-powered charging station, musical flowers and free public Wi-Fi.
