Compost & Brush Facility 2026 Season

Annual stickers allow dumping of unlimited quantities of leaves, grass trimmings, and brush. Brush is defined as branches 1”-3” in diameter and over 1’ long. Brush must be separate and put in a different pile at the compost site. Dumping of stumps, fencing, building materials, and plastic bags is not permitted.

Hours of operation:

 April 2 – October 25  / Thursday through Sunday 12-4pm

October 29 – December 6 / Thursday & Friday 12-4pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-4 pm

*Opening and closing dates are dependent on weather conditions and snow amounts.

CLOSED: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, July 4th, and Thanksgiving (including Black Friday)

Sticker Purchase

We cannot accept credit or debit card payments. Payment can be made with cash or check; made payable to City of Amesbury. Please do not mail cash.

  1. Walk-In: Bring in a copy of your vehicle registration and purchase a sticker at:
    • The DPW office (39 South Hunt Road)
      •  Open 7:00 am-3:00 pm Monday-Friday)  or
    • The Treasurer’s office at City Hall (One Market Street) 
      • 8:00 am-4:00 pm Mon, Wed, Thursday.
      • 8:00 am-7:00 pm Tues
      • 8:00 am-noon Friday.
  2. Mail-In: Application form, copy of your vehicle registration, check, and self-addressed stamped envelope to:

Pick-Up

STICKERS WILL NOT BE MAILED WITHOUT A SELF-ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE (they will be held at the DPW office for pick-up)


THE CITY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO:

  1. Issue fines for unauthorized dumping;
  2. Refuse material if quality or quantity is questionable;
  3. Close the compost site at any time without prior notice, or make changes to the schedule without prior notice.

Please place stickers on driver’s side of windshield, opposite inspection sticker.
