Amesbury Recreation’s Counselor in Training(CIT) Program is a two week program offered to high school students for the purpose of providing participants with valuable leadership skills and self-confidence while acquiring community service hours that can be used toward their graduation. In addition to the two weeks, participants will receive 8 hours of training and a CIT t-shirt.

CIT’s are expected to participate for 2 consecutive weeks. If performance exceeds our expectations, you may be invited to participate additional weeks for added service hours, at no additional cost. 

Mandatory CIT training will occur during the week of 6/23. More information will be announced closer to the start of the program.

CIT Duties & Requirements include:

  • Participate in teambuilding/staff trainings 
  • Help facilitate during set up and clean up 
  • Help plan and organize field games 
  • Help manage campers 
  • Being a great role model for the campers and Leaders in Training

CIT Benefits include:

CIT Program Options:

  • CIT Parks Program- Consisting of games, arts & crafts, sports, theme days, nature walks, team building activities, talent shows, and much more. Every Wednesday is water play day, Thursdays field trip day and the week wraps up with a guest entertainer on Fridays.
  • CIT Camp Kent- Located on Amesbury’s very own 17-acre nature center, Camp Kent offers a nature based summer programs with a wide variety of activities designed to help participants explore their environment and challenge themselves in the natural world. 
  • CIT Tadpole Program- Immerses yourself in our youngest campers that range from 3-5 year old. The program will consist of outdoor arts and crafts, splash pad fun, story time, sports, playground games, guest entertainers, skill building, walking field trips, singing, lunchtime and more!
